疫情下的亚创人

自从春节假期结束后，亚创中国团队以一种大多数人没有经历过的新方式回归了工作：在家远程办公。这是一种新的工作安排，需要员工和管理者共同学习。各部门都在想方设法组织工作，尽量减少在办公室的时间。以下是许多在类似情况下工作的亚创员工的一些故事。

Since the end of the Chinese New Year holidays, the Altran China Team is back to work in a new way known by very few in the company before: home-office. It is a new work arrangement that needs to be learnt for both employees and managers. All departments are finding ways to organize the work and minimize the time spent in office. Here is a few stories out of many Altran employees working in similar situations.

Abby在招聘组工作，她留意到在家办公的一个明显优势就是：“节省了很多交通时间，使我的工作更有效率，因此到目前为止在家工作的感觉很好。”她有了更多的时间在家做饭，这样既安全又健康，生活质量也得到了改善，尽管这不是一个永恒的解决办法。“当我们在办公室工作并与人面对面交流时，会有更多的精力。”在这段时间里，对Abby来说，确保有足够的食物储备比有更多的口罩重要，因为她不需要经常外出。“我每天的大部分时间都用在与团队保持联系，与候选人沟通，并对客户的需求作出回应上，客户的需求并没有因为现在的情况而停止。”

Abby is working within the recruitment team. The first obvious advantage she noticed with home-office is that "working from home feels good so far; it saves a lot of time spent in transportation and makes my work more efficient". She also has plenty of time to cook at home, which is safer and healthier. The quality of her life has improved even though it cannot be an ever-lasting solution:"there is more energy when we work in the office and have face to face connection with people". During this time, it is more important for Abby to ensure she has enough stock of food than having many masks, as she does not need to go out so much. "I spend most of my day catching-up with the team, keep in touch with candidates and responding to client requests which have not stopped despite the current situation".

作为一对双胞胎的母亲，Lynn在学校关闭的期间有很多工作要做，尤其是现在保姆无法回来帮忙的阶段。每天早上，Lynn都会先给孩子们洗衣服、喂饭，然后及时地把他们送到婆婆家后再回家开始上班。从每日部门的电话会议开始，部门总监王嫣会向团队更新最及时的业务信息。Lynn说，即使通过电话会议系统从家里加入，她也总是感觉到团队内部的紧密联系和团队精神。“我认为正是因为我是一名销售，我对远程工作、在线交流的特殊方式非常适应，因为我通常每天都要管理和适应不同的新情况。”

Lynn觉得自己和丈夫的工作都非常忙碌。“公司允许员工在家远程办公，让我在家有更多的时间照顾孩子和老人。”Lynn坦言，她现在正努力在照顾父母、孩子和工作之间找到一个正确的平衡点。这也是一次难能可贵的机会，可以花时间给孩子科普预防病毒的小知识。

As a mother of twins, Lynn has a lot of work to do at home while the schools are closed, especially now that the Ayi could not get back work. Every morning, Lynn washes and feeds her kids before sending them to her mother's house in time to get back to home for work. The day starts with the daily division conference call: Division Director Wang Yan updates the team on the latest business information of the Division. Even if Lynn joins from home via the conference call system, she always feels a connection and team spirit within the team: "I think it's because I'm a sales, I'm very comfortable with remote work, online communication and exceptional circumstance as I usually have to manage and adapt to different and new situations every day," Lynn said.

Lynn feels that she and her husband are still very busy working: “the company allows employees to work remotely at home, so that I have more time at home to take care of children and elderly”. Lynn shared that she is now trying to find the right balance between parents', children's care and work. It is also a good chance to take time to develop children’s knowledge about virus prevention.

本周是人力资源团队非常忙碌的一周。回答员工的问题；与团队经理沟通并评估员工对口罩的需求；预估员工返工时间等等……“我必须迅速了解因冠状病毒所发布的各类政策，并及时回答所有与人力资源相关的问题。”然而，Cindy只是一位新上任的母亲，她的孩子还不到一周岁。在这段工作期间照顾孩子，她很享受。她告诉我们：“我家既有孩子，也有老人，且到办公室上班的路程要一个多小时。在家工作让我更有安全感，这样至少确保了我家人的安全。”如果您对工作安排有任何疑问，请随时与您的人力资源业务合作伙伴联系。

This week has been a very busy time for the HR team: answering staff questions, communicating with Team Managers, assess the mask demands from our employees, trying to estimate when  employees will get back to work… “I had to quickly understand the various policies issued due to the epidemic, and promptly answered human resources related questions for everyone which has been challenging”. However, Cindy is a young mum and her baby is not yet one year old. She is taking care of her baby during the work and enjoys it. She told us: "my family has both a baby and also aged people, and it takes me more than an hour to get to the office. Working from home makes me feel more secure during these times, at least ensuring the safety of my family”. Altran has operations all over China including Hubei province. Also, many employees returned to Hubei province during Chinese New Year and are now unable to leave. Among them, we have asked Rentao, Anna and WANG Rui to share with us their story: how daily life is and what is their feeling about the current situation.

1月21日，我从上海乘火车返回湖北襄阳。因为没有直达票，我需要在汉口火车站换车。那时候，新闻一直在报道武汉的肺炎疫情，所以我一路戴着口罩，非常小心地与人群保持安全距离。看到大部分乘客也戴着口罩，我觉得疫情真的很严重。

回家后，我向家人们科普强调了防疫措施，“新年期间不要出门，在家待着”。我每天都关注着肺炎的最新消息，直到1月24日的新闻报道，武汉市政府宣布计划关闭全市，关闭所有出城交通线路。此时此刻，我真切感到了疫情的严重性。

两天后，湖北省更多的城市开始关闭，襄阳市政府通知我们关闭了高速公路和铁路。我们附近有很多人在武汉工作或学习，他们其中有些人就是来回家过年。一开始，我对他们有一些担忧，不过幸运的是，有关部门及时通知了大家，我们应该在新年期间在家中隔离，不应该到处走亲访友，所以大家的焦虑都平复很多。按照传统，我们村的人应该在春节期间互相拜年，但今年一切都很安静，大家都呆在家里。看起来很冷清，但事实上，这让人安心。

武汉封城的消息传出后，很多朋友和同事通过微信问我家乡的情况，疫情对我们的影响，我很感动。我的朋友丹尼斯给我打了两次电话，询问我和家人生活状况，这让我感觉饱受鼓舞。

黑暗时期终将结束。在这个没有硝烟的战场上，在全国人民的支持下，在全国医务人员的帮助下，相信我们一定能取得最后的胜利，战胜这场疫情！

I returned to Xiangyang, Hubei Province by train from Shanghai on January 21. Because I didn't get a direct ticket, I needed to change at Hankou railway station. In those days, the news was reporting the epidemic of pneumonia in Wuhan, so I wore a mask all the way back and was very careful to keep a safe distance from the crowd. Seeing that most of the passengers were also wearing masks I felt the situation of the epidemic was really serious.

After returning home I stressed the precautions of the epidemic with my family, “Don't go out and stay at home during the New Year period”. I followed the latest news of pneumonia every day, until the news report on January 24th, when the Wuhan government announced plans to shut down the whole city and closed all the transportation routes out of the city. At this moment, I really feel the seriousness of the epidemic.

Two days later, more cities in Hubei province began to close down, and the Xiangyang government informed us of the closure of the expressway and railways. There are many people working or studying in Wuhan in our neighborhood, some of them came home to celebrate the New Year. At the beginning, there were some concerns. Fortunately, the relevant departments informed us in time that we should be isolated at home during the New Year, and we should not go around to visit families, so the anxiety of everyone decreased a lot. According to the tradition, people in our village should visit each other during the Spring Festival, but this year everything is quiet and everyone stays indoors. It seems cold, but in fact, it is reassuring.

I am very moved that following the news that Wuhan has been close, many friends and colleagues asked me via WeChat about the situation in my hometown and whether it had any impact. My friend Dennis called me twice to ask about my life and my family's living conditions and it encourages me a lot.

The dark time will eventually end. In this battlefield without gunfire, with the support of the whole nation and the assistance of medical staff from all over the country, I believe we will win the final victory and defeat the epidemic!

这场疫情的发展对我来说完全出乎意料。从武汉到全国，湖北省已经成为重灾区。回家过年的时候，我在家里做好了隔离准备，积累了足够的日用品、蔬菜、水果和肉类，包括一些治感疗冒发烧等小病的药物。据我所知，到目前为止咸宁市的情况是：外出道路封闭，市内私家车和人员受到限制，药店药品和口罩售罄，关键商品价格上涨，超市也缺货，快递停止，很多医院不收发烧药患者。

幸运的是，我个人的情况下是我们提前做好了准备，所以我的正常生活一切顺利。如果我有一些小的不适症状，可以在家里进行治疗。我的老板和公司的同事都很关心我，经常和我联系，他们每天都会关心我的情况，很温馨也让人安心。现在唯一的顾虑是我不知道什么时候城市道路会开放，我可以出门。拜访客户等业务相关事宜可能会受到影响，同时我正在对我的团队进行年度评估，并与客户进行项目跟进，这些可能都会延迟。不过，目前公司已组织了所有员工在家办公，避免外出时交叉感染。这是公司业务和团队信心双赢的局面。

The development of the epidemic was totally unexpected for me. From Wuhan to the whole country, Hubei Province has become a major disaster area. When I went home for the New Year, I prepared for the isolation at home, and accumulated sufficient daily necessities, vegetables, fruits and meats, including some medicines for minor ailments such as cold and fever. So far, to my knowledge, the situation in Xianning City is that the roads to go out are closed, private cars and people in the city are restricted, the medicine and masks in the drugstore are sold out, the prices of key items increased, the supermarket is also out of stock, the express delivery is stopped, and many hospitals do not accept feverish patients.

Thankfully, in my situation, we prepared well in advance, so my normal life is good, and I can be treated at home if I have some small ailments. My boss and colleagues of the company care about me, and contact me very often. They talk to me every day and it is very warm and reassuring. Now the only worry is that I don’t know when the road will open and I will be able to leave.  Visiting customers may be affected, and I am thinking about the Annual Appraisal of my team and Project Follow-up with my clients which may be delayed. However, for now, the company has organized a work at home system which avoids cross infection when going out. This is a win-win situation for the company's business and team confidence.

我早早请婚假回了老家湖北孝感，1月20日举行婚礼的时候还只是刚听说有几个人被感染，才过了3天疫情就突然加剧了，武汉封路后紧接着孝感也封了路，家里人在外面工作的这下子全部被困在了老家，庆幸婚礼当时孝感的疫情还不严重，现在却已经变成全国第二大疫情城市，后来听到有宾客发烧的消息都为他们紧张，但好在最后都是虚惊一场。

作为公司在某线束项目上的Team Leader，我也一直担心同事们能不能按时回去上班，担心同事们的健康状况，但最后发现自己把自己隔离起来才是对大家最安全的。这期间需要和客户公司协调同事们的工作时间等事宜，也要收集同事们的健康信息，第一次远程工作，发现能把所有信息第一时间通知给所有人有一定难度，幸好同事们都经常看手机，大家的关心让我也觉得离上海没有那么远。

最后我个人的感悟是：面对疫情，我们要保持乐观的心态，同时做好科学防疫，戴口罩，勤洗手。

“疫情开始的时候，要知道它会结束，疫情结束的时候，要知道它某一天还会来。那样我相信每个人作为社会的一份子，做好力所能及事情就会让世界更好。”

I asked for my wedding leave earlier before Chinese New Year and went back to Xiaogan, Hubei Province. When I had my wedding on January 20, I just heard that several people were infected in my hometown. After three days, the epidemic suddenly intensified. After all roads closed in Wuhan, Xiaogan also closed them; all people working in other cities were trapped in our hometown. I am glad that the epidemic of Xiaogan was not serious at the time of my wedding, but now Xiaogan is already the second largest epidemic city in China. Since then, I heard that there was a fever among the guests of my wedding, I was worried about them, but it was a false alarm in the end.

As a team leader in a harness project, I am always worried about whether my team members can go back to work on time and healthy, but I finally found that my isolation is the best way to keep everyone safe. During this period, I need to coordinate the work time and other matters with our client, and also collect the health information of my team members. It is my first time to work remotely and it was difficult to notify all the information to everyone at the beginning. Fortunately, my team members check their mobile phones very often, and I do not feel that far away from Shanghai because of the care the team shown to me.

Lastly, my personal feeling is that during the epidemic period, we need to maintain an optimistic attitude, and do scientific prevention by wearing masks and washing hands frequently.

“At the beginning of the epidemic, we should know that it will end; at the end of the epidemic, we should know that it will come again one day. So I believe that everyone, we will make the world better by doing what we can do.”
